ABOUT THE SHOW: Once on this Caribbean Island, Ti Moune, a fearless peasant girl, decided to risk it all for love. Guided by the mighty island gods, she sets out on a remarkable journey to reunite with the man who has captured her heart. Can she prove that love is more powerful than death? Relish in this breathtaking and imaginative dance-filled musical, which overflows with love, grief, faith, and hope!

Important Dates: 

  • Rehearsal Begins: April 22, 2025

  • Closing: June 1, 2025 (with a possible extension thru June 8)   

**Note: Student and Public Matinees may be added after casting. 

Rehearsals are from 2:00pm – 10:00pm Tuesday – Friday and various times at the weekends. We may rehearse up to 42 hours a week. Your schedule and hours will vary depending on the size of the role. 

Pay ranges from $350 per week for local, non-union actors; $500 for out of town, non-union actors; youth actors receive a onetime stipend of $175. This production is an AEA Tier 3 Guest Artists Agreement, and the weekly rate is $691.00 per week, plus per diem, health and pension, and weekly media bump. Housing for out-of-town artists is available. 


FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: All video auditions should be emailed to auditions@cfrt.org no later than 5pm on Tuesday, March 4. Videos should either be submitted via Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube link. Please make sure the link is viewable by anyone for easy sharing amongst the team. Please include your headshot, resume, Audition Form 2024-2025, and Once on this Island Conflict Calendar in the email. Virtual callbacks will be scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 between 12:00pm-5:00pm. If we need to schedule you for a callback appointment, you will receive an email by Friday, March 7 at 8pm. Reels are not accepted as a submission, we require show-specific material which will be uploaded and provided below by Thursday, February 27 at 10pm.

What to prepare:

ALL: Please prepare a 32-bar song cut from your book in the style of the show, along with the side(s) provided for the role of your choice below. If you are interested in more than one track, please only prepare one as time is limited! Show-specific song cuts will be provided for callbacks if invited. You can view the material and plunk/accompaniment tracks here!

LOCAL: Please prep materials as listed above. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music for your song cut, OR you can provide a karaoke track. You may also sing a cappella if you prefer. 

ROLES (casting AEA & non-union actors for the following roles): 

Ti Moune (18-25, Black, female): Our story’s protagonist. A peasant girl who has been adopted, she is a brown or dark-skinned island girl with much curiosity and energy. Earnest and romantic about all creatures. Falls tragically in love with Daniel.

Little Ti Moune (Ages 8-12, Black, female): A young version of Ti Moune. We will cast two actors who will rotate performances.

Daniel (20-30, Black or mixed-heritage male): A youthful man from the wealthy part of the island. He is light-skinned and inherently bound to fulfill the expectations of his higher social class. Struggles with his feelings for Ti Moune.

Andrea (20-30, Black or mixed-heritage female): A light skinned, grand homme young woman who has been immersed in French culture and education, and the fiancé of Daniel. She hides her coldness and disdain for peasants behind niceties.
